I had read about the waterfall and was always fascinated by this particular area. I had been photographing waterfalls and rivers for a while experimenting with movement and slower shutter speeds and St.Nectans with its history was very inspiringEditing

Check location and light direction, with St.Nectans it is a long trek through the woods to get to and the path down is steep. Always take water, dress appropriately for the conditions and environment. Experiment with your exposures, a lot easier now with digital, also convert either in camera (in the case of Fuji's film simulation) or in post into black and white. If you do this in camera at the scene or location you will get a good idea of the tonal quality of the image. Sturdy tripod and wellies or waterproof boots in the case of St.Nectans Glen as I was standing in the water when the shot was taken. Most of all have fun and enjoy your photography..its the best job in the world
