I think I have a photo of that exact same cabin! lol. Up on the plateau of north west Iceland? God-forsaken barren wasteland. Friggin loved it.

Location
I spent more than a year planning my first trip to Iceland. My cousin and I decided to head right up to the Western Fjords and during the drive up, we came across this lonely, abandoned building. It was the most desolate place we had seen, nothing but lava fields for miles.Time
Being a rainy day, the sun was mostly obscured for the better part of the morning. Shy of noon, we found ourselves driving along the top of one of the mountains.Lighting
The grey skies really set off the tones in the weathered wood. I loved how the green of the roof contrasted against the sky and surroundings.Equipment
Being fairly new to photography, I was still getting used to my Nikon D3200 and kit lens.Inspiration
There was something romantic and mysterious about it. Here we were, in the middle of nowhere, and there it was, rising out of the lava fields. Hauntingly beautiful against the harsh landscape.Editing
I did a basic clean up of the image and adjusted the contrasting to sharpen the image. The colours, however, are just as we experienced them.In my camera bag
Aside from my kit lens, I like to keep my zoom lens and an extra SD card. There is also a lens cloth around because you never know what kind of conditions you'll encounter when shooting on a whim.Feedback
Take multiple shots!! I always take in my subject first. What caught my eye about it? Take it all in and don't be afraid to pull out some of the smaller details. Another one of my favourite shots from this moment was the door itself. I got a great shot of the rusted out clotter pin.
