I observed my first flock of Bohemian Waxwings for 2017. It was a small flock of 15 birds. A good identification for this species is the rufous colored bottom which is evident in this flight photo. This is a western species but in winter they become nomadic and travel all the way to the east coast. In 2015 and 2016 flocks of more then a 1000 birds were observed in New Brunswick. I wonder what 2017 will bring us!
