Location
This photo was taken at the Asia Society Texas Center at Houston in 2015. Tibetan Monks were visiting from Drepung Loseling Monastery to create a mandala sand painting.Time
This was taken mid-afternoon probably closer to 1pm.Lighting
The center was pretty low lit and only one spotlight shining down on the table they were working on. I wanted to try to include the background a bit. The little light or white circle you see is actually a MacBook. I thought including the main focus of the monk with technology in the background was good juxtaposition but it is to blurry to make out. Because of it being dark my ISO was pretty high and the f-stop was at 5.0. I was trying to eliminate as much noise as I could.Equipment
No tripod, it was all handheld. This was taken with my Rebel T3 with an EF-S 55-250 Lens. This was still the beginning of my photography career and learning phase.Inspiration
I love the concentration they put forth into creating these sand paintings. It's beautiful to watch, the opening ceremony, the process, the destruction.Editing
I always pos-process whether its fixing color or turning an image into black and white and adjusting the colors and dealing with noise and correcting that.In my camera bag
My camera body of course, a prime, wide and zoom lens is usually what's in my bag but this depends if I know what I am shooting. Extra batteries, extra SD cards, maybe a flash and cleaning wipes.Feedback
Always look through your lens. You want to be prepared so even after taking your one shot keep looking through your lens and there might be a slight change and you can capture another moment.
