On the Washington coast there's a tree with no official name. However, many people call it the "Tree of Life" because it tenaciously hangs onto life despite that winds, tides and storm waves have eroded the bank beneath it, exposing the majority if its roots. This erosion has carved out a "root cave" below the tree's root system and only a few roots still cling to the soil. I spoke with a local lady walking the beach and she said in this area violent winds and winter storms frequently knock down healthy trees with uncompromised root systems . She believedthe tree would fall down many years ago, but it remains standing for people to marvel at. (Olympic Peninsula - western Washington)
