Thank you! It was part of an amazing and gruesome scene. A few eagles, a murder of crows and an unfortunate ungulate who had been hit and killed, and was now feeding all the feathered residents.

I was more concerned about just getting the eagle. I didn't pay much attention to what the sun was doing. I only had one angle to shoot from, so I couldn't analyze the light.Equipment

We were on a roadtrip and we came upon this scene off the side of the hwy. An elk had been killed on the road and was providing a meal for a few bald eagles and a bunch of crows. The interactions between the birds and the shocking and sad sight of the dead ungulate made it a must to pull over. I took a bunch of photos. I thought my wide shot of the scene was the most provocative, but it seems that everyone is smitten with this cropped version of a wider shot.Editing
There is some sharpening and a minor curves adjustment and of course, a hefty crop!In my camera bag
My D610, 24-70mm/2.8 and my flash or my 70-200/2.8 lens, which in this case, I was so happy I had with me!Feedback
The old adage...Always carry your camera. Especially on road trips. You never know who you might see!
