Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken right outside my hometown on a friends ranch on one of the coldest days of the year, we could only handle being outside for about 5 minutes at a time.

Time

This photo was taken near the end of the day while the sun was just starting to set. It was one of the last shots I could bear to take before retiring for the day due to the cold.

Lighting

I had been relying on the sun for shots all day, and even though I couldn't feel my face, the setting of the sun was so perfect over the ice covered ranch I couldn't help but freeze for some shots.

Equipment

I used my NIkon D3100 with my 35mm-52mm lens, and lots of scarves

Inspiration

I had been lacking on the photography front a little bit due to the harshness of the winter, but my friend (also a photographer) and I were planning on visiting the horse ranch anyways so I decided to bring my camera along for the ride, and I m very glad I did.

Editing

I try to keep most of my photos as close to the RAW file as possible, i tweak small things in Photoshop Express, like cropping, straightening, or fixing small lighting issues. This particular photo needed some small exposure help, cropped, and i made the temp a little warmer, more for an inside joke than anything else.

In my camera bag

I don't like to use a ton of equipment. I have my camera and lens, caps, covers, and lens cleaners. And probably snacks.

Feedback

Don't force anything, let it come to you.
