Location
This photo was taken under a small bridge within the neighborhood.Time
It was in the afternoon in December.Lighting
It was all natural lighting. The sky was gray with no sun shining. The weather was chilly, about 40-50 dregrees. Although there were no sun out, it was still pretty light out which worked out in our favor.Equipment
I believe I used my 70-200mm lens for this shot and my canon 5D Mark III. The reflector was used to fan some artificial wind on her hair to create that windy effect.Inspiration
I wanted to do a shoot that had the essence of a Viking and a Queen. I also wanted to tell a story of a dark and strong life she’s lead but her eyes revealing the soft innocence that has never left her soul.Editing
In post processing I’ve darken the image just a bit more using adjustment layers. I had minor fixes on the strands of flyaways above her head and on the hair piece she was wearing. And very minimal blemishes here and there. In my camera bag
My Canon 5D MIII, two lenses depending on the photoshoot, a reflector, and extra batteries.Feedback
This was a pretty simple close-up or head shot. The focus was on her eyes. The more difficult part was the right timing of the wind and hair, which took more than a couple of shots to get the perfect moment when the hair was not covering her eyes completely. To get the catch light in her eyes, I had her face the direction of where the light was coming from since we were under the bridge.
