I am lucky enough to work on a stud and wine farm in the wine lands of Cape Town. This shot was early one morning, in winter, on the way to work.Time
This was an early morning shot, driving to work with the ground fog rising made for a great atmosphere. I always carry my cameras with me so I jumped out and snapped away. The sun rises behind the mountain which is perfect for the trees to be silhouetted like this.Lighting
I love natural light and am always aware of how the light changes during the day as well as by the season. Winter time is my favorite as you get shots like these.Equipment

I wanted to capture the beauty of a winters morning. We call winter in the wine lands the 'secret season' as it can be quite cold in the morning but get really warm in the afternoon. Warm enough to not even wear a jacket!Editing

Always be ready for the elusive shot by having your gear with you. Nothing like not getting that 'Kodak moment' because you were unprepared. Shots like these are completely weather dependent so be sure to keep your gear dry as it could be damp. Be aware of how the light moves and changes by being a keen observer of your environment. No day is the same. So practicing and knowing how to get the shot you want by being technically proficient. And always have fun!
