Survival of the fittest is a very real part of life in Alaska. I was in Haines, Alaska in November 2015 where American Bald Eagles converge upon the area because it is an excellent feeding time due to an overabundance of salmon. I was amazed at how the hierarchy of predators in the food chain was so clearly evident. The eagles would catch the salmon in the river and then different birds would congregate around the eagle waiting for the leftovers. The crow is getting impatient. After the eagle was "finished" whether he liked it or not, birds in various sizes would try to also get some of the remaining meat.
