Location
My mother was going through rehab at a small facility in Lincoln Nebraska. There was a small glass aviary in one area, with a myriad of these colorful birds, it was a peaceful area that allowed me distraction from my moms pain.Time
All hours of the day and night I took a lot of pictures.Lighting
Lighting was artificial.Equipment
All of these were freehand pictures with a telephoto lens that allowed the obscured background.Inspiration
There birds were unique from all around the world, and it was a needed distraction. We lost my mom about 3 weeks after this series of pictures were taken.Editing
Very little if any.In my camera bag
Nikon D7100, and package lenses. Noting special but always find the equipment isn’t as important as ensuring the composition is correct.Feedback
Be open for opportunities. There was a foot of snow outside but these beautiful birds that I had never seen before in a glass aviary and I could visualize the possibility.
