Behind The Lens

Location

Mountain Home ID

Time

7 pm, sunset

Lighting

As a military family who move often, Idaho has not been our favourite station, but it has brought us good things. We've hiked, we've gone white water rafting, and we've enjoyed some spectacular sunsets. When we had our daughter, we named her Ember Skye, to remind us of Idaho's beautiful firey sunsets. I took this photo to show her one of the reasons we chose her name in the future. I hope she will associate her birth state with beauty, and not potatoes. ????

Equipment

Sorry, this is a G6 phone camera! I try to stay away from my phone camera but sometimes its just what you have!

Inspiration

The sky is inspiration enough! But I was looking for reasons to love Idaho, and this is one of them.

Editing

I uploaded it to Lightroom just to fix some of the shadow presented in the original image. The sky was beautiful enough though so i saw no reason to adjust saturation or clarity.

In my camera bag

Just my cannon T3i! I'm still an amuture so I dont have large amounts of equipment, I dont even own a tripod yet!

Feedback

For an image like this its just being in the right place at the right time. This is just the view from my backyard! I happened to be holding my phone when I opened the door to let the dog out! Just always be ready for a photo opportunity. Often the best photos are caught in surprise moments.
