Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken near McGregor Lake in Southern Alberta, Canada!

Time

This photo was taken at 10:33:20 pm.

Lighting

The only lightning came from the moon.

Equipment

Camera was a Canon 5D3. Lens was a Canon 14mm f2.8. I always use a window pod, it's safer than to get out of the vehicle in the middle of the night. I do a lot of night photography, mostly Northern Light.

Inspiration

I was on my way home from taken Northern Light pictures and I knew that there was a pump jack in that area, so I gave it a shot!

Editing

I usually do very little post processing. I might have cleaned up any noise or maybe adjusted the brightness using the level tool in PS.

In my camera bag

A couple of DSLRs (Canon 5D2 & 5D3). Lenses, I usually take a Canon 24mm f1.4, a Canon 14mm f2.8 and a 24-70 f2.8. Sometimes I have my 70-200mm f2.8 along. A Canon release, some spare batteries, The window pod and a tripod, incase I could not get into the right position with the window pod. Some water and blankets, a flashlight and warm clothing.
