Location
This photo was taken at a small tourist hotspot called Lake Kawaguchi (Kawaguchiko in Japanese) which is the most accessible lake among the five fuji lakes.Time
It was during the wee hours of the morning that I woke up to watch dawn break with the view from my ryokan balcony (traditional Japanese guest house) during autumn.Lighting
Wanted to capture the photo earlier when it was darker out to get more reflections off the light across the lake but as it was still dark out, the street lamp on the street just next to the ryokan's balcony was tainting the photo with unnecessary orange light. Waited it out until it was brighter out and the street lamp was switched off.Equipment
I used a Nikon D750 with my main lens which is a tamron 24-70mm on a tripod (it was too cold that morning to be even able to hold anything steadily).Inspiration
The numerous mount fuji photos that are available on the internet. Mount Fuji is considered one of the most iconic mountain in Japan to photograph and there are tons of photographers who do nothing but photograph mount fuji from various angle's / spots 365 days a year. Mount Fuji has tons of different "looks" to it during the different seasons of the year, and even during a different time of the day. Subsequently went back again during a different season (winter) and managed to shoot a different view of mount fuji albeit from the same spot.Editing
Only very brief contrast/brightness and color balance post-processing was done to give a "colder" look.In my camera bag
My Nikon D750 with attached 24-70mm lens, a 50mm f1.8 lens, a set of Lee's GND filter and little stopper, a rocket blower, some lens pen, a trusty microfibre cloth, 3 spare batteries and a powerbank.Feedback
In photographing nature, one can only have patience and hope for luck to be on their side so that if the weather or conditions permit, one can capture the photo that one wanted. Nevertheless, it is what makes it so interesting and gives so much variation to the photographs taken.
