I was at Great Falls in Virginia hiking on a cloudy day and all of a sudden, sunlight broke through and lit up the island in the middle. Immediately, I knew this would be awesome in black and white, since the branches were mostly white and the leaves yellow on the island. Sandwiched between the darker tones, it turned out just like I thought it would.

I like the character of this shot and the foreground and background colors that frame the bird. He had food in his beak.

I back lit this beautiful flower to bring out the subtle tones within the flower for a dramatic effect.

Took a walk along Sam's Lake and saw these beautiful flowers with busy bees darting from flower to flower. My tripod came in handy on this adventure.

I was going for contrast in this one.

Dung Beetle along the trail at Seminole State Park in Texas. Quite interesting watching him try to dig his hole big enough to get that dung ball into.
