Location
The photo was taken at Jaunpass at the border of the two Swiss Cantons Fribourg and Bern. It depicts the Gastlosen Mountain formation.Time
I took this image towards the end of a walk with my family in spring. So the sun was on its way to set and we all enjoyed the moment.Lighting
The light was just for a short moment like this on the verge of turning the blue sky into yellow. This mixture makes the moment very special.Equipment
The image was taken with a Nikon Coolpix P900, no tripod, no flash. The image was later a bit processed to increase a little the saturation and the sharpness.Inspiration
The mountain formation is famous for its beauty that is why I took my camera with me. I was fortunate that the light towards the end of your walk turned out to be very nice and I took this special opportunity to take the picture. So it was not really planed but knowing the place to be beautiful prepared my mind in capturing the right moment.Editing
The image was processed. The saturation was increased and the shadows were reduced in order to get some structure. Finally the image was sharpened to flesh out the structure of the mountains. In my camera bag
I usually pack my Nikon Coolpix P900 and lately the ikon Z6 with a 24-70 lens. This is the light versions for landscapes. For more sophisticated images I pack in addition a Leica 19mm, 2.8 with a Z-mount converter and a 10 stop density filter in case I want to picture moving clouds or water in the landscape image. In this case I also take my Bogen Tripod with me.Feedback
Just be patient and alert to see the moment. Planning things ahead is good, but you can not influence the weather! Just adapt your aims for making the picture to the setting that is presented to you and include the special situation into your composition. Don't try to picture a fixed idea, you almost certainly will fail. Enjoy the moment and you will know when the time for taking the picture has come!
