Story:

Anyone who views my photo work can easily realize I've been in love with Iceland for the last three years. This place is The dream for any landscape lover, and this year I was finally able to allow some extra time to find new locations. As long as there's good light, you can find incredible shooting spots around every corner, as this photo shows. My Iceland trips in 2014 and 2015 were frantic, with endless hours of driving, always trying to find the biggest number of iconic spots and capture them with proper light. This year I went in June, allowing for long hours of sunset-sunrise light, with longer times for scouting.

I've tried to locate this spot on the map but I can't, and Sony has unfortunately deactivated the GPS option in their cameras. It was found while driving through the under-rated East Coast of Iceland, after I decided to stop during sunrise to photograph a very interesting small wood cabin meant for bird observation. The sky was starting to burst with light, and the very interesting cloud formation made me scout the place a bit further to find alternative compositions. After a very short walk I found this small stream of water, coming right from the ice melting of the mountains in the distant background. The strong effect of the ultra wide angle lens gave a strong emphasis to the foreground, building a solid leading line to the beautiful distant mountains.

As usual, a scene like this could only lead to that unique intense feeling of a strong adrenaline rush, mixed with the soothing effect of Nature. Addictive.
