I arrived at Blea Tarn just before sunrise and as I sat in the car waiting for a break in the weather, rain and hail lashing on the windscreen, I considered abandoning and going home to a nice warm bed. Fortunately the rain eased off before I got a chance to make a decision so I headed out. Periodic blizzard conditions ensued, but finally some light started breaking through and illuminating the freshly laid snow on the Langdale Pikes.
