Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken at Ft. Stevens State Park in Warrenton, on the northwestern tip of Oregon.

Time

It was a relatively warm evening in early June, I wanted some blue hour shots of Peter Iredale and was playing with a neutral density filter while I was waiting for the sun to set.

Lighting

I used the wreck to block the sun and am really happy how the light is glowing in the water and the wet sand, that's why I call it 'Sunset Glow'.

Equipment

Canon EOS 70D on a tripod with Canon EF-S18-200mm f3.5-5.6IS lens and a variable neutral density filter at a focal length of 20mm, 3.2sec at f13, ISO 100.

Inspiration

The light, reflections and trying to get the motion in the water.

Editing

Adjusting highlights and shadows to get the depth of the scene ... added some saturation and luminosity in the oranges to enhance the glow.

In my camera bag

The combination used in this photo is what I always carried around along with my tripod ( have since then upgraded to a full frame camera).

Feedback

A neutral density filter is a must to for the long exposure to get the motion in the water, other than that the Peter Iredale is a fun subject that I have captured in many different angles, weather and times of the day.
