Behind The Lens

Location

I took this shot at a Golden Eagle experience day at Rossleton Country park in Staffordshire

Time

It was mid afternoon and we we walking around the grounds with two Golden Eagles and they were posing the birds for us to take photo’s

Lighting

The eagle in the picture was used as half of the Buckbeak in Harry Potter

Equipment

I was using a Canon eos 650 and a canon EF 70-300 f4-5.6

Inspiration

I love portraiture and the detail in the feathers and plumage of the bird was truly beautiful .

Editing

I am one of the old guard when it comes to photography, i hail from the days of film and therefore take all my shots within the camera with only minimal post processing, far too many photographs that win competitions these days are totally manufactured post process, and i believe that that is art not Photography.

In my camera bag

I have changed my camera since i took this shot and no have a Canon eos 6D the lens that sits on the camera most of the time is a 24-105 f4-5.6 non l series unfortunately, i also have a 50mm F1.8 and an L series 100mm f2.8 macro, i also have 100-400 F4.5 L series and the 2 x convertor

Feedback

Use a low numbered aperture to through the background out of focus and ensure that you focus on the eyes, in any portrait human or animal always ensure that the eyes are in focus
