This photo was taken in Pieksamaki, Finland by the lake Pieksanjarvi on May 2016.Time
I was on work trip there and after long work day I was walking to the hotel. It's about 9.40pm in May. Evenings are not dark anymore in Finland at that time and the sunset was awesome.Lighting
Sunsets in late spring and summer in Finland are always beautiful to watch, and there is nothing unusual in this picture what comes to lighting. But I decided to take other elements for this otherwise quite boring sunset photo. So I went down to my knees and focused to the rocks and weed in the water.Equipment
I had only my camera phone with me. So this is shot with Sony Xperia Z5 Compact. I have had several camera phones after shooting with Canon 10D and I always try to follow the trends which are best phones at the market today. This photo proves the saying "The Best Camera is the One You Have With You".Inspiration
The weather, sunset and everything was there almost perfect, but I searched something extra. So I tried different view angles.Editing
I have only cropped this a little bit (from 4:3 to 16:9) and adjusted exposure and tones with Snapseed. When shooting with camera phone I usually use Snapseed on my phone or tablet for post-processing. I try to create most natural looking photos and I never use any filters. Sometimes I convert my photos to black-and-white and do much heavier editing. Those with Snapseed, too.In my camera bag
I don't have a bag ;-) I have just my pockets. Today I have sometimes two pockets full of camera phones.Feedback
If you like shooting sunsets, try to search something different. You get lots of likes for your sunset photos in social media but so do others because people tend to click "like" when they see something beautiful (sunset, flower, kitten etc.) But people who see lots of sunset photos don't necessary click "like" if it is just like any other sunset photo. Try to get some other subject to the photo than just the sun. Try framing with tree leaves. Try anything! That's what's photography is all about.
