Behind The Lens

Location

We took this photo at an old house that has been the centre of many ghost stories since I was a child.

Time

It was almost sunset

Lighting

Last photo of the day right as the sun set. We only had a few minutes and it was dark. We had to be set and ready to go

Equipment

Shot on a tripod with a Canon 5d mark 3, 24-70 lens no flash.

Inspiration

A conversation with my younger sister about her imaginary friend named Annie has stuck with me for years. I wanted to explore the idea that a child can be so lonely that a ghost will seem like a friend.

Editing

This is a merge of 2 photos. We couldn't get my niece quite still enough in one shot to keep her in focus.

In my camera bag

I am a sport photographer for a newspaper so I always have my 70-200 f2.8, 24-70 and a 400 prime.

Feedback

Be patient and keep trying. Some of the photos were specifically all taken for post editing and some we set up to try and nail the ghostly look in camera.
