Fantastic shot! The person in the red parka makes it go from really good to outstanding. Either you were very lucky to get them in a red parka, or you have VERY helpful friends and a lot of patience! Well dione!

Location
This photo was taken at Athabasca Falls near Jasper, Canada. The little rock that my brother is standing on is off the path and covered in snow. It was not the easiest to access, but so worth the effort of trudging through thigh-deep snow in order to find this location made famous by Chris Burkard.Time
This was taken just before the golden hour in the evening. The light was just starting to become softer, but the stark contrast of colours made me glad we had arrived a bit early in order to capture this moment.Lighting
My original hope for this image was to capture the end of the golden hour and have some pinks and reds in the sky as well, but when I arrived it was completely overcast and the color of the water was too impressive to miss. I took that opportunity and used it before it became too dark and the colors would have been lost to the shadows and darkness.Equipment
This image was taken using my Canon 70d and Tokina 11-16mm lens sitting on my Mefoto Globetrotter tripod.Inspiration
I love taking pictures in the mountains any chance I get. This image was inspired by an image that was taken by Chris Burkard a number of years back.Editing
I did a little bit of post-processing in Lightroom in order to bring the colors out and have the contrast pop. The colour of the water is natural and having my brother in a bright orange jacket helped with the colour contrast. In my camera bag
Too much. On an outing in the mountains like this i'll usually bring 2 camera bodies, a Canon 70D and a Canon 6D. With these I'll have 4 lenses, A Tokina 11-16mm, a Rokinon 14mm, a Tamron 24-70mm and a Canon 17-40mm. I'll usually carry one flash and 2 sets of Haida filters too. I only have one tripod now as my other one broke. The only special gear I have is a trigger trap velometer and a few handwarmers to keep my lenses from fogging up.Feedback
The big thing about this location is to just be careful and go midweek. It's a big cliff and there can be a lot of people here on weekends making this a hard spot to find empty. I was lucky that I arrived just 20 minutes before 2 tour buses came into the parking lot.
