"Phra Achana" is a huge 11 meters wide and 15 meters high seated Buddha image in the main "mandapa" (worshipping hall) of Wat Sri Chum, a Buddhist temple built in the late 14th century CE and is a part of Thailand's Sukhothai Historical Park (a UNESCO World Heritage Site). The city-state of Sukhothai is considered to be Thailand's first capital, dominating much of the upper Southeast Asian peninsular between 13th and 14th centuries CE.

The gold colour on the fingers of the Buddha image is a result of devotees pasting on gold leaves to beautify the image, a common Buddhist practice in Southeast Asia.
