Behind The Lens

Location

This photograph was taken on my back deck in Lake. St. Louis Missouri.

Time

Woke up at 4:30 am and wanting to get a sunrise picture, but my wife left out a couple of wine goblets from the previous night out on the deck so incorporated the goblet into the photograph with a bit of water in the glass.

Lighting

All natural lighting, during the golden hours of sunrise. Have always enjoyed a good sunrise/sunset photograph!

Equipment

Using a Nikon D300 at the time, Sigma 18-55mm lens. Handheld, and no flash.

Inspiration

At the time I didn't have a lens ball but always wanted to try out lens ball photography. With the items I had, I just had to make the things I had on hand and try my best. And this picture was a result of that effort.

Editing

Golden Hour is always a special time in photography. Just a bit of tweaking and cropping in Photoshop, otherwise straight out of camera, shot as a RAW file.

In my camera bag

Nikon D3, Nikon 300, with an assortment of lenses which would get lengthy and boring if I had to list them all, just depending on what I am shooting, a Garmin Virb Ultra 30 camera, and a Mavic Pro Drone.

Feedback

Just get out there and shoot! In the age of digital photography, you can always delete pictures and take more. The more pictures you take, you're bound to find one you like!
