Behind The Lens

Location

This is a photo of my home in Saint-Lazare, Québec, Canada; a town just west of my city of Montréal. I love my city and the town where I live. I particularly enjoy autumn, as all the trees display their gorgeous fall deciduous foliage colours before they drift off to sleep for the winter.

Time

I don't actually recall exactly when I took this photo, except that I shot it on a cloudless, but overcast afternoon, before we set about raking the endless autumn leaves! They are beautiful to behold, but are a devil of a job to rake!

Lighting

The natural light of the afternoon was perfect for capturing a clear rendition of the property and its splendid surroundings.

Equipment

I don't actually have any fancy camera equipment. I used my trusty Sony Cybershot DSCCC-W150 Super Steady Shot, which has been my go to camera for many years. I really must upgrade my equipment and my photographic knowledge now that I am fully retired.

Inspiration

Inspiration for taking this photo was simply my deep love and appreciation of nature and the endless beauty it provides for us every day. It is constantly changing and surprising us with new opportunities to fill our hearts and souls with awe. I love to capture as much as I can in every possible moment, knowing that it will be gone or different tomorrow.

Editing

I do know that I used a post processing package, that I had at the time, to crisp up the lines of the house roof, siding, bricks, bark of the trees and the leaves; and to warm up the colours. I love the Monet effect that the post processing gave me and I really enjoy this photo. I will have a warm record of this beloved venue for all the days of my life.

In my camera bag

I always have my Sony Cybershot at hand and sometimes employ my tripod, but as I mentioned earlier, it is high time I updated my go to equipment.
