Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was a gift of the Nature Coast of Florida. We have a home in Spring Hill, very close to Hernando Beach, Bayport Park (recently damaged by hurricane Hermine) and the stunning Gulf coastline.

Time

We were heading home from dinner at dusk. I was sitting in the back seat of my Dad's vehicle when I noticed the rapidly changing sky in the distance off to my right. I started squealing with delight as my husband, who was driving, read my mind and immediately found the first right and drove towards the coast. As soon as we were close enough to the coast and he was able to pull over, he did so and I leaped from the car and starting excitedly snapping. I was feeling so blessed to beexperiencing the magnificent sunset and even more blessed to have caught it on camera!

Lighting

Again, I was blessed with the natural light of the sun descending for the night.

Equipment

I have a very simple Sony Cybershot DSC-W150... that was all I needed.

Inspiration

I am constantly inspired by nature, architecture, people, animals, flowers... as soon as I saw this sunset developing I had to take the chance that I could capture something special.

Editing

I did do a little post-processing, mostly to bring up the wonderful colours happening in the clouds and sky.

In my camera bag

I usually carry my simple Sony Cybershot, because it is light and uncumbersome. Having recently retired, I may well expand my equipment horizons!

Feedback

The only 'advice' I could give is to always keep your eyes open for photographic opportunities and absolutely do not wait until you think you have the 'perfect' equipment and you believe you are an 'expert'. Onecan take a magnificent photo with all the gear in the world, or simply a tablet or phone. Go ahead, look for opportunities and don't be afraid to explore your inner creativity.
