I was on vacation seeing my family in Des Moines, Ia and my sister took me to this bridge. She said night was the best. I had no idea just how pretty it was. When I saw it it just looked inviting, like come take a journey and enjoy the beauty. I had to have this picture and when I got back home I knew I had to share this with everyone. I like to find beautiful places even in the middle of a big city.Time
This was take about 9:30 or 10:00 pm at park in Des Moines, Ia. It's a pretty bridge during the day, but at night it really comes alive.Lighting
This was taken using long exposure, I had learned (on YouTube) how to do this and wanted to try it out. I think I took 5 or 6 pictures before I got it close to right in camera. I just had to do a little tweaking in Lightroom to bring more detail out.Equipment
I used a Nikon D7100, 24-70 2.8, and a K&M tripod. I have since upgraded my camera and I need to go back and retake this picture.Inspiration
As I walked up to the bridge, the colors just popped out. I was mesmerized. With the colors fading off in the darkness, it gave a sense of urging to walk the bridge just to see if the colors carry on across. Hint (they do) lolEditing
Just a little sharpening, noise reduction. I brought the exposure up just a bit. I also used some clarity. Other than that I was happy with the shot.In my camera bag
I always have my D700 a Nikon 24-85 and my older 70-210. When I want to single something out, I pull my 85mm 1.8 prime and really separate the subject from the background.Feedback
Learn what you can and go out and practice. Take your time and keep shooting until you see the picture in your head. If don't work out the first time, pick another day and try it again. Don't give up on the shot that you want.
