Behind The Lens

Location

"The Bee and flower" photo was taken during a walk with my family at Stanley Park in Vancouver, BC, Canada. When we came up to the Prospect Point gift shop, I walked close to a plant box and I saw this beautiful scene so I quickly grabbed my pocket camera to capture it.

Time

I remember it was on around two o'clock in the afternoon.

Lighting

It was a sunny day so the lighting was good for taking any photo.

Equipment

The 12 MP Canon Powershot SX240 HS was the only pocket camera I carried with me that day. The shot was on an auto mode at a close distance of about three feet apart. No tripod, flash or any other equipment was involved.

Inspiration

I like to take photos on all subjects. At the time when I saw this bee and the flower, I thought it was very interesting and beautiful so I captured it right away.

Editing

The original image shown was the whole flower so the bee looked a little small that way. I made a simple edit by cropping the photo to focus on the main subject which is the bee. Lastly, I added my name on the bottom with the only editing software I know how to use which is the Olympus Master.

In my camera bag

Taking photos is my personal interest and I love it very much. The equipment in my bag are usually my favorite 18 Mega Pixels Canon EOS Rebel T5 with a Canon EF-S18-55mm zoom lens f/3.5 - 5.6 IS STM. A 20.2 Mega Pixels Canon EOS 70D with a Canon EF 75-300mm zoom lens f/4 - 5.6 III USM. This saves me a lot of time from changing the lens. I also have a backup 20.1 Megapixels Nikon pocket size camera Coolpix L28, a mini tripod, a spare 64 GB Ultra memory card (80MB/s) and a Canon RS-60E3 remote shutter release switch for city night shooting.

Feedback

My experience tells me most chances come only once so do not hesitate and take as many images as you can from different views, especially when shooting moving objects like sports, birds, animals and flying insects etc. There may be no other chance if you miss it so always try to shoot it first and then chose your best images afterwards. Check if you have the right setting mode before the taking any photo. Lastly is luck.
