Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken in the Sierra Nevada National Park, in the La Mucuy sector, in Mérida Venezuela.

Time

The photo was taken on February 21, 2016 at 2:21 p.m.

Lighting

The weather was cloudy as it normally does in the Andean forest areas, but light enough to be able to play with the light and even capture a background with different ranges of green.

Equipment

Nikon D60, with 50mm f/1.8 lens. No tripod, No flash.

Inspiration

I was returning from a failed arrival at the Coromoto Lagoon on a hiking trip, on the way back I noticed this little friend who I couldn't resist taking a photo of. It was not easy to get to ground level due to the difficult terrain and my legs starting to give way, but I think it was worth the result, don't you think?

Editing

I usually don't spend a lot of time processing photos, I do a more or less straightforward development from raw to jpeg and then complete with white balance adjustment and color correction.

In my camera bag

I updated my body relatively recently, from a Nikon D60 to a Nikon D5300. The lenses I always carry are the Nikon 18-55mm f / 3.5-5.6G kit, a Nikon 55-200mm f/4-5.6G zoom and a Nikon 50mm f / 1.8 prime lens.

Feedback

This is kind of a macro photo, my advice is, sit at ground level (or subject level), if you have a tripod capable of going down that much, the better. Be very aware of the focus, in my photo the focus was not perfect. A distant background to create the bokeh looks great.
