Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken on the beach in Ormond Beach, Florida. I am an amateur photographer but I want to take the best pictures I can. I was practicing my close up shots and wanted to get the shells and the beach from the view close the the sand.

Time

This picture was taken somewhere around nine o clock in the morning. I was walking on the beach looking for photo opportunities and saw this group of shells just laying there together. It was the perfect opportunity to practice the close to the sand images I wanted to get.

Lighting

It was all natural lighting. I didn't change anything.

Equipment

I used my Sony camera and just held the camera myself. I hadn't gotten into using a tripod at this point. I was still pretty new to taking any kind of picture.

Inspiration

I love to go to the beach and just sit there and watch the waves roll in and listen to the birds. I also like to see the shells that are left behind by the waves. I look at the cracks and crevices and scars imagining what it might be like to be tossed by the sea and then washed up onto the shore where some shell seeker picks me up and takes me home.

Editing

I didn't use any post processing on this picture because I was so new to even taking pictures.

In my camera bag

I normally have three cameras with me- my two sony cameras and my canon camera. I also carry a ball to take unique pictures through it.

Feedback

My best advice is to take your time. Take in all the beauty that is around you. Be patient with your pictures because it takes lots of practice to get good pictures. Study other great photographers to get ideas on how to take better pictures.
