This photo was taken in Galveston, Texas during a historical photo walk on Saturday, October 1. 2016. I found this house to be quite unique and it had a lot of character. I think the fact it needed to be painted only added to the picture and showed what years of wear and tear can do.

This picture was taken in Galveston, Texas during a Scott Kelby Photo Walk. This house was in definite need of repairs but had so much personality. I took many pictures that day but the ones from this old house were my all time favorites. I am sure this home was built in the early 1900s but it is one of the many untouched beauties in Galveston.Time
This was about 10:00 a.m. on a Saturday morning with overcast skies.Lighting
I love taking pictures using natural light. When it is early morning and you have an overcast day it is like the best of both worlds. You can still get that white light but without the harsh sunlight and shadows.Equipment
Canon 5D Mark2,Canon 28 - 105L. There was no flash used or tripod.Inspiration
This house was just amazing its style, the age, the peeling paint, the address needing to be redone on the door. The little balcony above the porch and the window shutters. I just knew it would photograph really good. The black wrought iron gate and fence drew my attention because it framed the scene.Editing
I use Lightroom for all my post processing but there was nothing special about the editing needed on this picture. In my camera bag
My Canon 5D Mark2. I always carry too many lenses but I have been caught off guard a few times and needed one I did not have with me. Canon 400L, Canon 28-105L. Canon 35mm, Canon 85mm, sometimes I will carry the Canon 28mm and my Canon 100 Macro. I also have a few filters in there but rarely use them.Feedback
Everything we take pictures of has something that our eyes are drawn to. When taking pictures try to focus on the first thing you notice in a scene that is eye-catching and you will not be disappointed.
