After taking this photo I found out that this caterpillar will turn into a Cinnabar moth. He is about 3-4 inches long and he has a bright pattern because he is very unpleasant to eat, as he has absorbed many Alkaloids from this Ragwort plant. This is the only plant he eats and it is poisonous to many animals and humans. As you can see in the top right of the photo, he has decimated one of the flower buds and is now tucking into some tasty petals for dessert.
