This window was made around 1136. It sits high up in a twelve sided 'motte-and-bailey' style castle keep. The ornate Gothic spire (another part of the castle) that the window now looks onto was made in 1860. The spire sits on an octagonal stone tower that was built in 1423.

Over the centuries this castle has seen many bloody battles and has consequently been owned by many kings, dukes and lords etc.
