This is a shot I took outside at a meeting of the Distinguished Gentleman;s Ride. They organise worldwide events every year to raise money for research into prostate cancer and men's mental health issues. A worthy cause I think, I have been documenting them for the last 5 years.Time
The shot was taken mid-afternoon, rather harsh lighting conditions but out of my control. I just had to adapt.Lighting
Lighting was sun only, as this is a candid shot I had no time or use for reflectors or the likeEquipment
Camera I used was a Nikon D90 with a Tamron 70-300mm at 105mm focus length. No flash since it was a sunny dayInspiration
This was a happy accident, where I stumbled into a moment between two songs (the lady is a singer) where she adjusted her in-ear monitors. Luckily I had the camera ready!Editing
Only post-processing I did was to change the pic from colour to B&W, played a little with the contrast and that's it.In my camera bag
My bag is quite extensive these days, everything from 11 to 200mm is there. Body has been uprated from the D90 I took this shot with to a D7200, lenses are 11-16mm 2.8 Tokina, 35mm 1.8 Nikkor, 50mm 1.8 Nikkor, 80-200mm 2.8 Nikkor and a 18-140 Nikkor 3.5-5.6. Lots to choose from, depending on the situation I make a selection beforehand.Feedback
Just go for it, it takes practice.
