The camera is a Sony mirrorless A 6000, handheld while lying on the floor beside Cliff. I was as close as I could get to him and using a tripod was awkward for me at such close quarters.Inspiration
We shoot out of our own personality and who we are. I do love animals but probably, more importantly, I have been living with Type 1 Diabetes for 58 years and have been declared legally blind or more accurately "visually impaired".I had laser surgery on my own eyes many times over the last 40 years Thus sight and eyes are very precious to me, as a person and, even more so, as a long-time photographer. Getting the light in the eyes tack-sharp is critical and for me a challenge. But also, being able to see into the eyes and to read what a person is thinking or feeling, is just as important for an animal. In this case, I'm not sure what Cliff is feeling! But a feeling comes through the image.Editing
Cropped the image to let the ear act as a frame on the left and let the light on the right act as negative space and allow the viewer to interpret what Cliff is feeling. Thus the viewer is engaged.In my camera bag
Now it is mainly the mirrorless camera. Age and eyesight have a lot to do with what I carry!Feedback
