Behind The Lens

Location

I was walking along an old dirt logging road near Sweet Home, Oregon photographing wildflowers when I heard a loud splash as I neared a little creek that ran through a culvert under the road. I went to the edge of the road and there I saw a small pool. The water was clear, but there was no sign of whatever made the splash. I stood there peering into the pool for several minutes, when suddenly this big bullfrog surfaced for air and I quickly zoomed in and snapped this shot.

Time

If I remember correctly, it was around 11 am when I shot this photo.

Lighting

The lighting in 100% natural.

Equipment

My camera was a Canon Power Shot SX20IS

Inspiration

It was a chance-in-a-lifetime shot--I just happened to be in the right place at the right time.

Editing

No post-processing other than cropping a little.

In my camera bag

I had no other equipment other than my Canon Power Shot with 20x zoom

Feedback

The only advice I can give is: Always be prepared--you never know when you might happen upon a unique shot.
