Location
I snapped this in the centre of Chichester, West Sussex.Time
Mid-afternoon. Not my favourite time of day usually for taking photographs; the light can be flat or harsh, but when it’s street photography you do get plenty of action.Lighting
Natural light; a bright and sunny day.Equipment
Fujifilm X-Pro 2 with a 50-200mm Fujinon lens. Hand-held.Inspiration
I was out and about looking for anything that might make a decent shot when I came across this guy. His 1960 S style checked suit and his enthusiastic trombone playing wasn’t something I was going to miss! I checked he was happy that I take some shots and ended up with this. I like the juxtaposition between his antics and the dour expression of the pedestrian walking past.Editing
Destauration, a little sharpening and cropping...In my camera bag
I carry my x-pro2 on a wrist-sling, usually with either a 10-24 Fujinon or the 50 -200. If I’ve got my bag with me there will be a 2nd body, a 35mm, 27mm and a 56mm f1.2.Feedback
I love shooting street but don’t do as much as I should. If you want to get a great street shot you can choose to get close and ask or do the ninja thing from a distance, but what really counts is catching the spirit of the person (or people) in a way that does them credit and tells a truth at the same time.
