Last week I decided to visit our Peterborough Lift Locks. I will have more detail about the Lift Locks in another image. Lock 21 is the highest Hydraulic Lift Lock in the World. It is part of the Trent Severn Waterway, a Natural Historic Site in Canada. By next year our Canadian Canoe Museum will also be at this site. The Canoe Museum is a unique National Heritage centre that explores the canoe's enduring significance to the peoples of Canada. The Museum has over 100 Canoes and Kayaks on display and is visited by Tourists the world over. It is rich in the History of Paddling watercrafts across Canada. It now has over 600 Canoes, Kayaks, and other paddling craft in it's holdings as of this year. I will share this in other postings. While visiting the other day I was pleased to see 2 canoes from the Museum tied up along the waterway leading up to the Lift Lock. Peterborough is famous for Wooden Boats and the Peterborough Canoe Company and other Canoe Companies in the area over the years are well known in the watercraft community.
