Lightning Bugs or Fireflies?.. which do you call them? here in the south, where we always come up with our own names for pretty much everything, we call the Lightning Bugs. this is in Cades Cove in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. this is a typical, early June night. believe it or not, this isn't a photoshop trick. come and see them for yourself. everyone needs to see this at some point i their lives because it's like witnessing a miracle. this is just over the mountain from my home where we get lit up with them every night in the summer too.
