Behind The Lens

Location

I was at my best friend's house in Washington and she just got this little kitten.

Time

It was probably in the evening as we usually went there for dinner.

Lighting

I don't recall anything special about the lighting. Their dining room had a ceiling fan with four incandescent bulbs.

Equipment

I use a Nikon D3100 with a 18-55 mm lens. I do not have a flash. I usually just point and shoot. If I am not sure I will take multiple shots and pick out the best.

Inspiration

The kitten was just laying in her lap playing. I saw an opportunity to get the kitten yawn so I snapped off multiple shots in hopes of catching just the right shot.

Editing

I try not to change the shots that I like too much so usually I will crop the picture to show only what I want to see.

In my camera bag

I have a largeD31ag....there is a Nikon 300 and a Nikon 5200. The lenses I carry are 18-55 times 2, 55-200 times 2, wide angle lens with macro, 2x converter, mini tripod, 2 battery chargers, and miscellaneous small manuals and papers. The pack I carry has a 500 mm lens and a tripod. I want to buy a couple other lenses like a 28 mm.

Feedback

I never plan to capture the perfect shot sometimes it is just luck. But if I had to give advice I would have to say take lots and lots of pictures. Most of all be patient that special shot will happen.
