Polar bear (Ursus maritimus)
The encounter of this cub and her mother on the edge of the sea ice north of Spitsbergen was an amazing one in so many ways.
Here the mother has lead the cub for an investigation on what this big metal floating thing is, and while she is smelling and even tasting the hull of the ship, the cub lost track of why they were here I guess, and just rested its head on the mother’s behind.
It lasted just for a few seconds, and I am happy I was able to catch it.
This is shot with a manual lens I use mostly for macro, but as with all my lenses I want multiple usage and am really pleased with how it worked for me in this case.
