This beautiful birch framed path is at Daly Point Nature Reserve in Bathurst, NB.Time
My sister and her husband were visiting and, we woke to a beautiful warm fall day. A walk in nature seemed the perfect thing. After our breakfast, we headed to the Nature Reserve. We strolled down this lovely inviting path at mid morning.Lighting
In the fall, the morning sun takes on a golden glow that lights up the forest. The leaves, on the birches along the path, had all turned gold and many had fallen to the ground. The sunlight, the leaves and the path were all bathed in a golden hue.Equipment
This was shot with a handheld Canon T3i with a 70-300mm f/4-5.6 telephoto zoom lens. No other equipment was used.Inspiration
Fall is such a wonderful time for photos and the colored leaves make wonderful subjects and backgrounds. This particular scene with the path under the golden arch formed by the birch branches, the white birch trunks framing the sides and the leaves strewn below was so inviting to stroll through. I wanted to capture this peaceful image to be able to return there in my mind whenever I wanted.Editing
The photo was taken in jpeg format before I switched to raw. I imported the jpeg into Lightroom, straightened it slightly and used a Colorize Yellow preset to keep only the golden color. I was so new to Lightroom and still learning the basics that I was delighted with the results. In my camera bag
I always bring my 18-55mm/ f3.5-5.6 lens, a tripod or monopod, an extra memory card and lots of spare batteries.Feedback
The most important thing that I've learned, is to look for beauty wherever you are and no matter where you are. If you keep watching for potential photos, you won't miss an opportunity to capture something wonderful.
