I had the pleasure of photographing this pied-billed grebe mom and her five chicks on Union Bay in Seattle this spring. The smallest was still in the habit of riding on her back, as they all do when they're too small to swim on their own. The rest of the chicks were busy swimming around but I got one of them in the frame here when I zoomed in on mom with her youngest peeking out from behind her head.
