Taken from New Mexico Skies, Mayhill, New Mexico. Used a Takahashi FCT-150 and an SBIG STL-11000M; data taken in red, green, blue, and luminance. M31, otherwise known as the Andromeda Galaxy, is one of our nearer large neighbors; unlike the rest of the sky, it is actually moving in our general direction. In several hundred billion years, Andromeda and the Milky Way will likely collide.
