Glorious Colourful Sunset at Lake Eppalock in October 2014. This was a magical evening. Lake Eppalock is a man-made lake or an impounded reservoir situated between Bendigo and Heathcote (located 130 km northwest of Melbourne). The Eppalock dam was built in 1961 and has a height of 45 metres. Lake Eppalock or the Eppalock Reservoir has a surface area of 800 acres and in the early 2000's the drought in Victoria saw water levels drop to just 8% of capacity. Then in 2010 heavy rains saw the lake reach full capacity (August 2010 to October 2011). Various spots around the lake are great for photography since it is an impound reservoir and numerous dead gum trees can still be seen standing in the water. Also its teeming with bird life. But what a fantastic spot to practice on sunset shots. This particular photo has sold a number of Canvas Prints locally and has been highly regarded.
