The moon just happened to be in the perfect spot in the sky from my bedroom balcony. It was still daytime, but the moon was pretty clear. I used a gobo style setup, trying to create not only the main "spotlight" outline, but getting the material close enough together that is created a "microcontrast" area within the sky that had spotlight shape to it as well. I just used the light of our atmosphere to make it look like the moon was being lit by a light from above. While not one of the photos I took was quite perfect, this one was the closest to looking like the moon was casting a shadow of its own from this "light that is shining on it".
