My Step-Brother got married in Alaska recently. This is his beautiful bride, out in the field near the shore of a river running by. Alaska is a great place to shoot for the golden hour, as it is more of a golden three hours around this time of year! Hah.

This was shot in Kasilof, AK on the bank of Kasilof River amongst the tall grass growing along it.Time
This was in May, so the days were quite long in Alaska at the time and we ended up taking this shot around 9:50pm when the sun was almost to the lowest point that it will reach on the horizon for that time of year. THE most amazing time of year for portraits with the "Golden 5 hours" that you will have! This was after the ceremony and reception, and we all had gone for a stroll along the river to unwind a little after the festivities. Due to the nature of the Golden Hour up there, we were able to be quite relaxed in our time capturing shots.Lighting
Due to the nature of the Golden Hour up there, we were able to be quite relaxed in our time capturing shots. After a few shots with the river in the background, we turned around and saw how the sunlight was perfectly lighting up this small patch of the field, and took a few shots. With a veil, it diffused the already soft sunlight even further.Equipment
Shot with a Nikon D7100 and a Tamron 70-200mm lens, and no other modifiers.Inspiration
I loved how the warm sunlight lighting up the grass with "yellow-orange" flares at its tip kind of mirrored her hair, and the whimsical look it had when positioning her amongst the grass. She did not look so out of place, even in her white dress.Editing
Not much post processing was done, as I preferred to leave most of my shots alone when they were taken in those later hours of the evening with that wonderful light! In my camera bag
Currently I have my Sony A7IV, Sigma 24-70mm DG DN, 55mm Zeiss, and a Sigma 150-600mm for the camera setup. I carry reflectors, a Nissin DI700 flash with Air Commander, a 24" umbrella, 48" umbrella, and a 60" Octagon umbrella with egg crate gobo when shooting portraits.Feedback
Due to the position of Alaska's Longitude, the sun has quite a fantastic trajectory on the horizon for lighting later in the evenings in May/July starting around 8:00pm or so. Elsewhere, you know you have to wait for that 10 minutes of perfect light in the evening ;).
