Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at langstone harbour in Portsmouth

Time

It was taken on a horrible wet and windy day which I think really added to the atmosphere of the image

Lighting

It was a really wet and windy day, lighting was very flat, but that suited the black and white style of the image, allowing me to isolate the boats and focus on the textures

Equipment

Canon 6d with 24-105mm f4L

Inspiration

I love the positioning of the boats, and the raw unloved textures

Editing

I used a mixture of Lightroom, Photoshop and silver efex pro 2, to really exaggerate the textures on the boats

In my camera bag

Canon 6d, canon L lenses and a load or ND filters, along with a manfrotto 055xpro tripod

Feedback

Don't be afraid to get close, remember to think about depth of field to isolate a subject in a busy place, and don't be put off by the weather, drab lighting and lead to some fantastic images, especially in black and white
