Location
I managed to capture this image at a lake near to where I live. I regularly go out on "nature walks" with my camera.Time
It was Spring and I went out looking for baby animals to photograph, I had already come across some cygnets and then was really pleased to find some ducklings who seemed very happy to pose for me!Lighting
This photograph was captured using only natural daylight that was available to me. It was quite a bright day so it was a little tricky to capture the birds without too many shadows.Equipment
I use a Canon 70D. This shot was captured using my 75-300mm lens, allowing me to get in close without disturbing the birds.Inspiration
I was specifically looking for baby animals to photograph, in order to capture the season of Spring. I was really pleased to come across so many ducklings, goslings and cygnets that day.Editing
I shoot in RAW so did some tonal and contrast adjustments. I also had to remove some green fringing from the white daisies. In my camera bag
I go everywhere with my telephone lens! Being a nature and wildlife photographer this is really essential to get in close. I also love macro photography and recently purchased a 100mm macro lens which I am loving!Feedback
Understanding the animals behaviour is essential. If you're going out looking for baby animals you really need to go at the right time of year! It's all about being patient and waiting to get "that shot".
